认知语法角度下的情态动词研究_英语论文
A Study of English Model Verbs from the Perspective of Cognitive Grammar
摘要
兰盖克的认知语法体系认为语言不是一个自足的认知系统; 对语言的描写必须参照人的一般认知规律。而作为一种特殊的助动词,情态动词向来是各领域专家学者的研究热点,如何对情态动词复杂多变的意义和用法进行系统的研究?如何从更全面的角度对其进行分析?。以英语情态动词“should”为例,展示了兰盖克提出的“动态演变模型”可以更好地解释和分析情态动词。这对进一步深入研究情态动词提供了借鉴意义。

Abstract
The cognitive grammar put forward by Langacker thinks that language is not a self-sufficient cognitive system, and the use of language must refer to the cognitive law of human beings. As a kind of specific auxiliary verb, English modal verbs have been the hot spot attracting many experts and scholars all along. How to make a systematic research on its complicated and changing meaning and usage? And how to analyze modal verbs from a more comprehensive perspective? “Dynamic Evolutionary Model” which is put forward by Langacker can provide a promising approach to explain and analyze modal verbs. An English modal verb “should” is given as an example to show how cognitive grammar can be used to explain modality in a convincing way. This analysis is hoped to provide some implication for further research of modal verbs.
