A Cross-cultural Study of Chinese and Western Journalism: the Global Times VS the New York Times

摘要

新闻报道和新闻业塑造我们看世界的方式，在引导舆情和稳定社会中扮演着重要作用。当今世界, 新闻已经成为我们生活的必需品。由于文化差异，不同国家的不同的新闻机构的新闻报道会有所差异。因此，我们有必要对中西方新闻业进行跨文化研究。

《环球时报》和《纽约时报》分别是中国和美国很有代表性的新闻报刊。透过各自的文化视角，两家新闻机构追踪着当今世界上的最新新闻。本论文分析了这些新闻报道的差异，以及背后的文化成因。

Abstract

Media coverage and journalism shape how we perceive the world and what we consider to be important. Journalism is playing an outstanding role in creating and shaping of public opinion and strengthening of society. In today’s world, news has become our daily needs. Different news agencies from different countries have different news coverage due to cultural differences, and that’s why it’s important to do a cross-cultural study on Chinese and western journalism.

The Global Times and The New York Times are the most representative newspapers from China and the US respectively. Both have mass news coverage on what’s happening in the world every day through their own cultural perspective. And this article analyzes how different these two news agencies are and the cultural reasons behind them.
