A Study of Meta-cognitive Strategies Used by English Majors
摘要
元认知策略是指学生对学习过程进行计划、管理和评估的学习策略,对提高学生的学习成绩有着显著的效果。本文对90名英语专业学生(其中包括男生35名,女生55名)使用元认知策略的情况进行调查,结果表明:(1)现阶段,大学英语专业的学生在外语学习中不经常使用元认知策略;(2)自我计划,自我监控和自我评价这三项元认知策略与学习成绩显著相关;(3)高分学习者与低分学习者在使用计划、自我监控和自我评价策略方面有差异。

Abstract
Meta-cognitive strategies refer to the learning strategies for students to plan, manage and evaluate the learning process, which has a significant effect on improving the students’ academic performance. In this paper, 90 English majors (including35 males, 55females) are investigated using meta-cognitive strategies. The results show that (1) At present, meta-cognitive strategies are not used very frequently during the process of learning for English majors; (2) Self-planning, self-monitoring and self-evaluation have close relation with the scores of final English tests; (3) The difference between high and low achievers in the usage of meta cognitive strategies of planning, self-monitoring and self-evaluation is obvious.
