A Study of English Translation of Jiangsu Local Cuisine

摘要

饮食文化是中国优秀传统文化的重要组成部分,其历史源远流长。全球化进程的深入推进使中华美食走遍世界,享誉全球。苏菜作为中国八大菜系之一在中国传统文化体系中占有举足轻重的地位,多样的选材、独到的技法、精美的造型和丰富的口感使得苏菜在世界各地一直享有精致、华美的名誉。菜名翻译作为一种传递信息和传播文化的重要手段,在饮食文化对外交流中,其重要性不言而喻。准确、地道和形象江苏菜名翻译,可以让外国友人在品尝江苏菜肴独特风味的同时,还能从菜名中了解和体会苏菜的烹调技术和文化内涵,好的菜名翻译有助于苏菜走向世界和弘扬中华美食文化。

Abstract

Cuisine culture is an important part of Chinese excellent traditional culture, and it has a long history. Because of the progress of globalization, Chinese cuisine becomes famous around the world. As one of China’s eight major cuisines, Jiangsu local cuisine holds a very important position in China’s traditional culture. Jiangsu local cuisine has an exquisite and colorful reputation around the world because of its variety and abundant ingredients, unique culinary methods, delicate shapes and appealing flavors. The translation of dish names serves as an important channel for information transfer and culture diffusion. An exact, authentic and vivid translation of Jiangsu local cuisine enables foreign friends to understand and realize the cuisine skills and cultural connotations of it. A well-translated dish version can help Jiangsu local cuisine go into the world and contribute to the promotion of the Chinese cuisine culture.
