Abstract

My Brilliant Career is an autobiographic novel written by the famous Australian woman writer Miles Franklin. It successfully presents the image of Sybylla, a bush girl who struggles with fate，environment and traditional moral ideas. What is depicted in the novel is the life in the Australian bush at the end of the nineteenth century, but the feminist ideas and the great courage behind the struggles is not specific to Australia and the time. This paper will focus on the three main struggles of Sybylla, in order to reveal the hard life of bush woman and to enable the readers to know more about Australian culture.
