The Role of Linguistic Environment in Developing Junior High Students’English Listening Ability

摘要

英语听力是英语的五大基本语言技能之一,更是人们日常交流中必不可少的一种交际手段。传统的英语课堂听力教学注重于句子的含义,课堂上老师把大部分时间放在重复地播放录音带及听力材料的句子翻译上。这直接影响了学生们听力的提高。因此,在听力理解过程中,语境起着至关重要的作用。在文章中,作者分析了当前初中英语教学中所存在的问题,语境在听力教学中的作用,以及提高听力学习效果的一些具体策略。

Abstract

listening is one of the five basic language skills, and it is also an indispensable part of communication in people´s daily life. However, traditional listening teaching focus on the meaning of sentences. Teachers take most of time to play the tape repeatedly and translate listening materials in English class, which influences the improvement of student´listening comprehension.Therefore,linguistic environment is a important factor during the process of listening comprehension. In this article, the author analyses the current problems in junior high school English listening teaching and the role of linguistic environment in listening teaching,then proposes some practical strategies for listening comprehension improvement.
