An Exploration into the Differences between China and USA in Food Culture 

摘要

本研究旨在通过分析中西方对饮食的不同理解，探究饮食文化在跨文化交际中的重要性。以中美饮食文化为窗口，就饮食观念，饮食方式， 餐桌礼仪等方面分析中美饮食文化的不同点。同时，也从传统文化， 价值观， 地理环境的角度分析了导致中美饮食文化不同的原因。通过对这一课题的研究，有利于中国文化与西方文化在沟通，交流中互补共存，实现共同发展。另外，对于语言学习者来说，是了解中西方文化异同的难得的机会，从而深入理解和掌握某一特定语言的学习。

Abstract

The research aims at exploring the important function of food culture in cross-cultural communication by analyzing Chinese and Western food culture. Using the Chinese and American food culture as a window, this thesis introduces the differences of two cultures from the aspect of food concepts, dietary pattern, table manners, etc. Meanwhile, this paper also analyzes the reason of differences between China and the United States food culture from the perspective of traditional culture, values, geographical environment. Through this research topic, it is beneficial to the coexistence of the Chinese culture and western culture in their mutual communication and exchange, and realizes common development. Furthermore, for language learners, it is a good opportunity to learn the similarities and differences between Chinese and western culture. So they can deeply comprehend and master specific language learning.
