欧•亨利是二十世纪美国最具影响力的短篇小说家之一,他一生中共写下近300 篇短篇小说。他的短篇小说有着独特的艺术风格，它们也揭示了欧•亨利对社会底层小人物的同情和对人性闪光点的赞颂。他也因此被誉为“美国生活的百科全书”和“美国现代短篇小说之父”。其关于爱情的姐妹篇、短篇小说代表作《爱的牺牲》和《麦琪的礼物》,从问世至今一直深受世界各地读者的喜爱。 本论文旨在剖析欧•亨利关于爱情的两篇短篇小说《麦琪的礼物》及《爱的牺牲》在背景、人物、情节、语言及主题五个方面共同展现出的欧•亨利作品独有的艺术特点。通过对这些方面的细致分析，本论文让读者进一步了解《麦琪的礼物》及《爱的牺牲》这两部作品的艺术魅力并对作者欧•亨利爱情小说独特的艺术特色有更深入的认识。
