External Evaluation on Vocabulary Choice of Oxford English for Primary Schools

摘要

英语教材是实现英语课程目标的重要材料和手段。其中,词汇是构成语言的基本要素,也是英语基础知识中的重要部分组成之一。词汇的合理编排直接影响着新课程教学目标的贯彻和教学质量的提高。因此对词汇的分析与评价就显得尤为重要。

基于文献研究法和问卷调查法,本文首先综述词汇的定义、教材设计与教学内容等相关文献资料。然后,根据对教师和学生进行的有关牛津小学英语词汇选择的问卷调查结果,从外部(教师和学生)分析评价苏教版牛津小学英语教材词汇选择是否符合数量和类别的科学标准。最后,基于研究数据的分析提出有关教材合理使用的建议。

通过调查分析,发现教师和学生基本上对这套教材较为满意。其内容贴近学生的实际生活,符合学生的生理和心理特点,重视学生原有的认知结构,体现了词汇学习理论的思想,符合国家新课程标准的要求。然而一些地方仍需要改进,如单词的复现率未得到充分重视。

Abstract

English textbook is an important material and means to achieve the goal of English curriculum. Therein, vocabulary is the basic element of a language, and it is also one of the important parts of the basic knowledge of English. The reasonable arrangement of vocabulary directly influences the implementation of the new curriculum and the improvement of teaching quality. Therefore, the analysis and evaluation of the vocabulary are of the essence.

Based on literature research and questionnaire investigation method, the author firstly reviewed the definition of vocabulary, teaching design, teaching content and related literature. Then, according to the external survey of vocabulary choice for Oxford English for primary schools from teachers and students, the results of the survey will be analyzed from external evaluation(teachers’ and students’ assessment) to judge whether the English vocabulary choice accord with the quantity and type of scientific standard. Finally, the author puts forward some relevant suggestions for the rational use of the teaching material on the basis of research analysis.

Through the research and analysis, the author finds that teachers and students are basically satisfied with the vocabulary design. The content of this textbook is close to students’ real life and meets their physical and psychological characteristics. It not only attaches great importance to students’ original cognitive structure, but embodies the ideology of vocabulary learning theory. This set of textbooks also meets the English curriculum standards. Whereas there are still some places needing to be improved. For example, the repetition rate of vocabulary has not been taken seriously.
