On the Disappearance of Southern Lady Temperament from the Perspective of Feminism-- A Case Study of Blanche in A Streetcar Named Desire

田纳西•威廉姆斯的作品《欲望号街车》是一部女性主义戏剧。作品为我们塑造了布兰奇孤独的、脆弱的、身心畸形的形象，社会优越感、自命清高和恣意放纵成为其悲剧命运的外在原因。本文描述了布兰奇在社会变革背景下如何对人生进行选择，并如何走向毁灭。其主旨是分析南方淑女形象的特点，从女性主义角度探讨布兰奇的性格变化并最终揭示出南方淑女形象的消亡。

Abstract

A Streetcar Named Desire, written by Tennessee Williams, is a feminist play. Blanche in the play is a lonely, fragile and abnormal image. The sense of social superior, the manners of aloofness and acolasia are the exterior causes of her miserable destiny. This paper describes Blanche how to choose her life and how to destroy herself in the base of social reform. Its aim is to analyze the image of southern lady, discuss the change of Blanche’s characters with feminism and finally point out the disappearance of southern lady.
