摘要

《喜福会》是美籍华裔优秀女作家谭恩美的代表作之一。作品描写了四对母女在美国的生活成长奋斗经历，母亲是中国人，在抗战时期为了改变自己的命运而迁居美国，在美国她们各自生子，组建了自己的家庭，而在这个家庭中，她们的女儿出生、长大的美国，从小受美国式教育，思维和生活方式都很美国化，她们不了解中国及中国的文化和传统，对于中国的认识只能从父辈那里得知，对于中国她们甚至有偏见。也因为这样母亲和女儿在生活中产生了各种各样的矛盾，这也是美国文化和中国文化的冲突。最后，在女儿们遭遇到情感婚姻挫折时，母亲用自己在中国时的亲身经历，一次次找到与女儿们的沟通方法，同时也使女儿们更了解中国。

本论文将基于女性文学批评理论及跨文化视角，通过对文本阅读，首先分析四对移民母亲和美国长大的女儿之间所发生的各种冲突，然后分析这些文化冲突所反映的母女之间的不同，进而解读不同的历史时代赋予女性幸福以不同的内涵。进一步从女性主义理论入手，分析《喜福会》中母女的女性形象，使我们深入的了解《喜福会》中的女性形象，理解女性主义这一理论，提高女性主义意识，重视女性价值，对著作有更深入的理解。

Abstract

The Joy Luck Club is the representative work that written by Amy Tan, a famous Chinese American writer. The work describes four pairs of mothers and daughters who lived in America. Chinese mothers moved to America in order to change their own destiny in the period of the war of Resistance against Japan, and they married and gave birth to a child. Different from elder generation, daughters knew little about China and Chinese traditional culture because they received American education from childhood, and even they were biased against China. Because of different backgrounds, there were various contradictions between mothers and daughters. What is more, when daughters encountered frustration in marriage, Chinese mothers made appropriate communications with daughters by their own personal experience, which made daughters attempt to learn China.

Based on feminism and cross-cultural perspective, this thesis will analyze the subtle and complicated relationships caused by cultural conflicts between the four immigrant mothers and daughters by reading the context, and then makes interpretation of different historical times endowing female’s happiness with different meanings. From feminism, this paper dissects the female image of mother and daughter in The Joy Luck Club, so that we can understand feminism well, improve feminism consciousness, think highly of women’s values, and have a deeper understanding of the work.
