摘要

韩素音是一位著名英籍华裔女作家，她的作品主要取材于20世纪中国生活和历史，而在那特殊的年代中，她的作品给全世界提供了了解中国的途径。《凡花》是她5部传记的其中之一，这本书，既关联到当时中国以及世界各国发展情况，又记载了韩素音的个人生活以及形成她性格的具体环境。

尽管国内外学者对《凡花》进行了不同角度的研究，但研究的重点多为当时的中国背景，学者们多从历史角度出发，分析这本书的史学意义。

本课题分为引言、正文和总结三部分。引言介绍了作家及其主要写作风格；正文第一章简要介绍了《凡花》这本书和国内外对该作品的研究；正文第二章，探讨了亲情的缺失、不成熟的爱情以及种族歧视给她带来的苦恼；第三章以自我定位为基础，写出了韩素音对自己种族身份的困扰；第四章讲述了动荡时局给她带来的成长烦恼。

本文旨在文本分析的基础上，剖析韩素音成长过程中的烦恼，最后提出我们应该从作者身上汲取经验,勇敢的面对复杂的社会及家庭环境带来的成长的烦恼，并果断采取措施以达到自我实现。这为女性主义文学批评提供了注脚。

Abstract

Han Suyin is a famous Chinese British female writer, her works were based mainly on twentieth Century’s Chinese life and history, and in that particular era, her works provide the world the way of knowing Chinese. A Mortal Flower is one of her 5 biographies, this book is not only related to the development of China and the world at that time, but also records her personal life as well as the specific environment of the formation of her character. 

Although scholars at home and abroad have carried out different perspectives on the study of A Mortal Flower, most of them pay more attention on the background of China at that time.

This paper is divided into three parts: introduction, text and conclusion. The introduction is about the writer, her works and her writing styles. The text is mainly about Han Suyin’s growing pains, the first chapter briefly introduces A Mortal Flower and then elaborates the domestic and foreign research situation of the work. The second chapter discusses her distress about lacking of domestic affection, immaturity love and racial discrimination. The third chapter bases on Han Suyin’s self positioning, she is deeply troubled by her racial identity at that time. The fourth chapter describes Han Suyin’s worry about the turbulent times.

This paper aims at analyzing the growing pains of Han Suyin on the basis of text analysis. And finally proposes that we should draw experience from the author to bravely face the pains from family and the society, then to take decisive action to reach self-realization. This provides a footnote for feminist literary criticism.
