An Analysis of the C-E Translation of Public Signs in Scenic Spots from the Perspective of Skopos Theory

摘要

随着经济全球化和文化全球化的到来,以及人们旅游需求的日益增加,旅游成为当今世界上最热门的文化服务项目。因此,提高景区公示语翻译水平、促进不同文化之间的和谐交流就显得至关重要。

本文将从目的论角度对景区公示语的汉英翻译进行研究,首先介绍公示语的特点、功能,接着分析苏州景区公示语英译所出现的问题。文章最后从目的论的视角对景区公示语翻译提出相应的翻译策略。

文章由三部分构成,第一部分首先回顾国内外研究现状和成果,梳理前人在公示语翻译领域所作出的贡献,接着介绍公示语的概念、分类、功能,使读者对公示语有大致的了解。第二部分对目的论的起源、发展、原则,以及目的论对公示语翻译的指导作用进行了介绍。第三部分主要从目的论的视角具体分析苏州景区公示语的翻译问题,并在此基础上提出相应的翻译策略。通过本课题的研究,希望给翻译人员就公示语翻译提供启示,从而提高公示语翻译的质量。

Abstract

With the economic and cultural globalization, and the increasing of people's tourism demand, tourism has become the most popular cultural service in the world today. Therefore, it is particularly important for us to improve the translation of public signs in scenic spots and the harmonious cross-cultural communication is particularly crucial.

This paper intends to study the C-E translation of public signs from the perspective of Skopos theory. It begins with the introduction of the features and functions of public signs. Then it analyzes the problems existed in the translation of public signs in Suzhou. Finally, it puts forward some translation strategies under the guidance of Skopos theory.

This paper consists of three parts. The first part reviews the present situation of the research at home and abroad, and cards the contributions made by the predecessors in the field of public signs translation, and then introduces the content, classification and function of the public signs, so that the readers will have a general knowledge of the public signs. The second part introduces the origin, development and rules of Skopos theory, as well as the guidance of Skopos theory to the translation of public signs. The third part mainly gives a skopostheoretic analysis of existing problems in the translation of public signs in Suzhou. Furthermore, it provides some translation strategies. Through this study, it is hoped that the translators will have the inspiration in improving the quality of the translation of public signs.
