从文化差异看汉语成语英译_英语论文

A Study on Translation of Chinese Idioms into English from the Perspective of Cultural Differences  

摘要

随着新中国的成立与改革开放，如今的中国骄傲地屹立于世界民族之林。不仅是经济、历史、中华文化也应走出中国，面向世界。谈及中华文化，汉语成语，自古有之，它着实深深地吸引着我。

  本篇论文从文化差异的角度，来探讨汉语成语英译的问题。本文分为五个部分。第一部分概述汉语成语，介绍它的定义以及它的特点。第二部分，则是探讨汉语文化以及汉语成语的关系。汉语成语反映着汉语文化，汉语文化也会因汉语成语的流传与使用而变得更加深厚有魅力。第三部分阐述汉英成语的对应关系，它们分为完全对应、部分对应以及完全不对应关系。接下来是第四本部分，汉语成语与英译版本成语的文化差异。具体从历史，地理，宗教和习俗这些方面进行对比，并加以具体的例子加以阐述。最后一部分是根据不同的翻译理论及策略，来恰当地翻译汉语成语。

Abstract

With the reform and opening-up of China, China proudly stands among the people of the world today. Not only its economy and history, but also the Chinese cultures should be known to the world. When speaking of the Chinese cultures, it is known that Chinese idioms have existed for a long time. They really attract me deeply.

  This thesis discusses how to translate Chinese idioms into English properly from the perspective of cultural differences. It is divided into five chapters. The first chapter expounds the definition and the characteristics of the Chinese idioms. The second chapter expounds the relation between Chinese cultures and Chinese idioms. Chinese idioms reflect Chinese cultures. Besides, using of Chinese idioms enriches Chinese culture. The third chapter states the corresponding relations of C-E idioms. They are basic equivalence, partial equivalence and non-equivalence. And next, the fourth chapter elaborates on the cultural differences between Chinese idioms and their translations. To be specific, it clarifies the differences from the aspects of historical factors, geographical factors, religious factors and custom factors. At last, the fifth chapter states the theories and methods of translating Chinese idioms into English.
