A Study of Painted Skin’s Subtitles Translation From the Perspective of Skopostheorie

摘要

电影字幕具有及时性、通俗性、同步性及无注性的特点，但同时还受时间、空间及语境的限制。因此，提高影视字幕翻译质量势在必行。翻译是一种有目的的行为，字幕翻译也不例外，本文从目的论角度出发，以《画皮》字幕翻译为研究对象，对电影中含有中国文化内涵的汉英字幕翻译进行了分析和研究，并探讨翻译策略的处理，从而达到无障碍观赏电影以及跨文化交流的目的，并论证了在目的论的引导下能保证电影字幕翻译质量的重要性。

Abstract

Movie subtitles are featured by its instantaneousness, popularity, irreversibility and no-notes, but restricted by time, space and contexts. Therefore, it is important to improve the translation quality of movie subtitles. Translation has its own purpose and translation of movie subtitles is not an exception. By using the case study of the Painted Skin’s subtitle translation, this thesis mainly analyzes and studies the translation of Chinese and English subtitles with Chinese cultural connotations in the film from the perspective of Skopostheorie. Also it discusses the treatment of translation strategies, and demonstrates the importance of ensuring the quality of film subtitle translation.
