An Analysis of the Deformed Sexual Relationships in Sons and Lovers

Abstract
The thesis aims to discuss the three types of deformed sexual relationships described in the Sons and Lovers and deeply explore how this phenomenon appeared. It also states the deformed sexual relationship would bring how much gray shadow on their children’s growth.
From perspective of Lawrence, the healthy and harmonious relationships between men and women should achieve the dialectical unity of both spiritually and physically. These three kinds of deformed sexual relationships show the opposite view of Lawrence. Morel and Mrs. Morels’ deformity mainly depends on the distinct social status, Mrs. Morel and her sons William and Pauls’ deformity because of Mrs. Morel’s thirst of emotion. This thesis will simply explore Lawrence’s conceptions and viewpoints on nature and sex and dig out some warnings and advice to the contemporary sexual relationship from the tragedy of the Morels.
