从成长小说的角度简析《柑橘与柠檬啊》中主人公的成长_英语论文

A Brief Analysis of the Protagonist’s Growing Process in Private Peaceful as an Initiation Story

摘要

成长是许多儿童作品亘古不变的主题。《柑橘与柠檬啊》亦是一本以成长为主题的童书，这是一个关于如何在困境中成长的故事。小说以家庭生活以及战争为背景，通过主人公托马斯•皮斯佛的回忆再现了他的家庭成长经历以及最后他在战争中完成成长的过程。本文从成长小说的角度出发，通过分析主人公成长的客观环境以及影响他成长的主观因素，阐释出主人公成长过程中认知的发展，进而理解主人公成长的内涵。最后， 得出的结论是历经成长的痛苦磨炼，人们方能理解成长的内涵，懂得尊重生命，珍惜生命，懂得如何生活。

Abstract

Growth is one of the most important themes of many children’s literature. As an initiation story, Private Peaceful is a story about how to grow up in the plight. The novel is based on the background of family life and the war. Through the memories of the protagonist Thomas Peaceful, the novel recounts his experience of childhood and the process of his growth in the war. From the perspective of the initiation story, this paper analyzes the objective and the subjective factors which have effect on the protagonist’s growing process, and then gains the interpretation of his growth. Finally, the conclusion is that after experiencing the pain of growth, people can have a profound understanding of life and learn how to live and respect life.
