托尼·莫里森是1993年诺贝尔文学奖的获得者，其处女作《最蓝的眼睛》是代表作之一，于1970年发表后在美国文学界引起热议。文中主角佩科拉遭受到了来自同伴社区和家庭的藐视、冷漠和暴力对待，扭曲了自己的审美观，更模糊了对自我的认知，最终为了一双蓝色的眼睛而走向癫狂。本文以创伤理论为切入点，用归纳法、列举法等研究方法探讨佩科拉的悲剧人生，以探究在托尼·莫里森眼中，何为黑人创伤的治疗良方。本文分为五个部分。引言部分内容为托尼·莫里森和其《最蓝的眼睛》内容简介，以及文献综述。第一章介绍创伤理论的定义以及发展现状，并对本文中所使用的研究方法作阐述。第二章详细论述了佩科拉的创伤经历和创伤来源。第三章则分析了佩科拉受到创伤后表现出来的创伤症状，指出佩科拉创伤复原失败的主因乃扭曲的自我认知和匮乏的家庭支持。最后结论是，莫里森认为唯有在创伤之中反思自我，重塑认知，黑人才能在白人文化的冲击下坚守人格独立，走出创伤的阴霾。

Abstract

Toni Morrison is the winner of the 1993 Nobel Prize for Literature. Her debut, The Bluest Eye, is one of her masterpieces and it aroused heated discussion after the publication in 1970. The protagonist Pecola suffers contempt, indifference and violence from the community and family. Her aesthetics as well as self-recognition are distorted, consequently driving her to her mad addiction to a pair of blue eyes. Based on trauma theory, this paper uses several research methods to discuss Pecola’s tragic life, including induction and enumeration, for probing into the effective therapy for the traumatized African-Americans. The paper consists of five parts. The introduction part covers the introduction to Toni Morrison, her The Bluest Eye and the literature review. The first chapter sketches the definition and development of trauma theory. Chapter two enumerates and classifies the causes and experiences of Pecola’s trauma. Chapter three analyzes the trauma symptoms of Pecola and ascribes her unsuccessful recovery to distorted self-recognition and inadequate support from family. In the conclusion part, this paper summarizes Morrison’s view: only by introspection and cognitive reconstruction can African-Americans hold fast to personality independence under the impact of white culture and get over the dark of trauma.
