摘要

《福尔赛世家》是对一代英国资产阶级家族兴亡史的描写，是著名作家高尔斯华绥的杰作，该小说不仅在爱情、亲情和友情方面表现了作者独特的想法，更深刻地展现了当时英国特别是英国贵族的生活方式。在维多利亚时期，俱乐部已经成为一种社会风潮，各个阶级人群对俱乐部都有着一定的向往和需求。在本三部曲中，虽然资产阶级大家族在没落，俱乐部却一直存在着，不同阶层不同性别似乎成为了区分俱乐部的依据，有钱的富豪去装修的雍荣华贵的高级俱乐部，普通的群众就去简陋朴素的俱乐部，男人和女人所在的又有所不同，书中没有过多描写那些人在俱乐部中的具体活动，这种文化习惯到底是从何时继承的，俱乐部在他们的生活中到底扮演着什么样的角色，本书中俱乐部有何作用，社会的变化给俱乐部带来了什么样的影响，这些都是值得我们探究的问题。爱情、亲情、家族、女性主义是很多人对该小说最深刻的印象，很多学者已经从各个角度对这些主题进行了比较成熟的探讨，而对于比较细化的方面如书中体现的俱乐部文化却是寥寥无几，在李宝芳在《维多利亚时期英国中产阶级先下生活探析》中指出维多利亚时期中产阶级人群对于能显示其地位特征的娱乐活动十分青睐，例如中产阶级男性就很少关顾小酒馆等娱乐场所，而更愿意进入到各种俱乐部等能显示身份的场所。由此可知，显示财富是人们加入俱乐部的原因之一，就像是书中的索姆斯，爱财如命，所有权意识极强但是也很注重个人形象的树立，鸟以类聚，物以群分可以很贴切地形容各种俱乐部的人群，在公共场合中形象的树立就等同于自家品牌的宣传，影响深远。

Abstract

《The Forsyte Saga》is the description of a British noble family’s decline. Its author, John Galsworthy, had expressed his unique thoughts towards a love, family affection and friendship. What’s  more, he also depicted a vivid society of that time, especially the life of noble family. In the Victorian Age, clubbing had begun a social fashion. Entering into all kinds of clubs was a life style people pursued. And this kind of trend had been acquired as a topic of novel or other literature by authors at that time, so Galsworthy was one of them. With the development of society, the noble family was declining, people could not enjoy life as before, so they tried to find means to live a glorious life as before. The obsession on the club was unique of Victorian culture. People of that time possessed a significant position as an important elements in Victorian socialization. The clubs could offer then what they want, so the club had received some development and advancement at that time. Different classes and gender had become the vary reason how the clubs divided. The rich went to the clubs of higher level while the poor went to the small bars with simple facilities. Clubs for men and women were not began at the same time. In abroad, there are already many research relating to the topic of Victorian club culture, however, there is few at home. The club culture is a worthy topic for us to explore.
