摘要

《赎罪》（2001）是英国当代闻名作家伊恩·麦克尤恩在中国最广为人知的小说之一，重点讲述的是在二战期间爱情悲剧制造者布里奥妮的赎罪之路的故事。小说形象地描绘了女主人公布里奥妮从青少年，成年到老年的各个阶段的成长历程，让读者在跌宕起伏的故事情节中解读出耐人寻味且有深刻教育意义的成长主题。

本论文以成长小说传统的叙述形式为主线，深度解读女主人公布里奥妮的人格特征，即剖析布里奥妮青少年期间为何犯罪，成年之后如何醒悟与赎罪，以及老年时如何赎罪，以此探寻她不一样的人格成长历程。首先，本论文探讨布里奥妮青少年时期的行为是如何引领她走上犯罪之路，并且从实际文本和实例中分析最终导致她犯罪的性格因素。其次，阐述由于内部世界和外部世界的变化，成年的布里奥妮开始转变。在战争的冲击和写作的指引下，她逐渐认识到她所犯之罪的严重性，并且开始面对过去，用行动洗刷心中的罪孽。在这个阶段，她的人格开始走向成熟。最后，在自我实现的作用下，布里奥妮完成的了现实和理想中的赎罪。故事的最后，77岁高龄的女主人公走完了57年的赎罪之路，完成了自我救赎和自我实现，人格也完成了最终的完善。

本论文以成长小说的思路为线索分析女主人公布里奥妮的人格成长历程，希望布里奥妮的性格分析能更加多元化，同时也希望能引起人们对青少年心理健康的重视。

Abstract

Atonement, one of well-known novels in China which is written by the famous contemporary British writer Ian McEwan, represents a story about the redemption road of the maker of love tragedy, Briony Tallis. In this story, Ian McEwan vividly depicts the development of Briony’s inner world at her different stages, including Briony’s childhood, adulthood and old age. All these suggest the theme of growth which is full of educational significance.

Atonement will be studied from the aspect of the traditional narration of bildungsroman with an analysis of the development of Briony’s personality, namely the reason why Briony makes false accusation in teenage and how she wakes her sense of atonement in adulthood, and finally how to finish her atonement in her old age. In this way, the development of Briony’s personality is explored. Firstly, the paper analyzes how the behaviors in Briony’s teenage result in her crime, and lists the criminal factors in her personality from the texts and examples. Secondly, adult Briony becomes more mature because of her increasing age and the changing external world. The war’s influence and the guidance of writing make her realize the seriousness of her crime. Briony can get tranquility only by facing the past sin courageously and atoning with actions. In the end, under the influence of self-realization, Briony’s atonement in the reality and her novel is done. At the end of the story, 77-year-old heroin finishes her 57-year self-redemption from which her individualization is realized and her mature personality is developed.

The paper discusses the development of Briony’s personality from the aspect of bildungsroman, which aims to provide another angle to the analysis of protagonist’s personality and arouse people’s attention to teenagers’ psychological health.
