摘要

约翰·斯坦贝克是美国二十世纪著名作家，曾于1962年获得诺贝尔文学奖。《菊花》是斯坦贝克的短篇小说名篇。在《菊花》一文中，斯坦贝克描述了一个普通农村妇女的一天生活。本论文通过分析女主人公伊莉莎的心理变化过程，从三个方面论述《菊花》中的女性自我，首先从其家庭生活情况分析伊莉莎追求自我的原因，其次分析其女性自我觉醒的过程，最后分析其女性自我成长的失败，探讨失败原因以及作者约翰·斯坦贝克对女性主义的积极态度。

Abstract

John Steinbeck was a famous American writer during the 20th century, who won Noble Prize in Literature in 1962. The Chrysanthemums is a representative short story of him. In The Chrysanthemums, Steinbeck describes a day of a common country woman. This paper analyzes the psychological change of the heroine, Elisa and focuses on the female self from three aspects to discuss its development, the obstacle, causes as well as Steinbeck’s positive attitude towards feminism.
