摘要

《魔桶》是马拉默德的著名代表作之一。小说叙述了犹太男青年列奥在结束了六年的学习生涯后将被任命为牧师，一个熟人建议他最好结婚以取得教徒的信任，在媒人萨尔兹曼的介绍下，对象却屡屡不如意，最后却与苦难的妓女斯特拉在一起的故事。本论文从两性关系的角度来探讨小说所表达的主题--犹太性。在两性关系中，各个人物对婚姻的态度与最后的选择都深刻反映了小说的主题—犹太性。本论文共分为三个部分，第一部分介绍作者马拉默德的生平概况以及重要作品，概述《魔桶》及其背景，犹太性国内外研究现状；第二部分从三个方面论述《魔桶》中的两性关系：首先，主人公列奥对两性关系的态度,他的择偶要求和他在面对各个相亲对象时的心理活动。第二方面，论证列奥的各个异性对象对两性关系的态度。第三部分概括总结主人公及各个女性对象的两性关系状况，揭示其犹太性对两性关系的影响。

Abstract

The Magic Barrel is one of the representative works of Bernard Malamud. The young Jewish man Leo will be appointed as a priest after 6 years’ study. An acquaintance advises him to get married in order to win the trust of the Christians. The matchmaker introduces several females to Leo. Finally Leo marries a suffering prostitute --Stella. From the perspective of gender relation, this paper explores the theme -- Jewishness. In gender relation, each character’s attitudes towards the marriage and the final choice reflect the theme --Jewishness. The paper is divided into three parts: the first part introduces the author Malamud's life and works, study of The Magic Barrel, and the overseas and domestic research on Jewishness. The second part discusses gender relation of the The Magic Barrel from three aspects. Firstly, Leo’s attitudes towards gender relation，his requirements in choosing his ideal wife, and his psychological activities when facing each woman in blind date. Secondly, this paper discusses the features of each woman in blind date of gender relation. In the third part, the paper summarizes the characteristics of gender relation, revealing the influence of the Jewishness in gender relation and the salvation of God.
