摘要

谭恩美是一位著名的美国华裔作家。她的第一本小说《喜福会》的发表成功地让她在华裔美国文学界名声大噪。小说《喜福会》讲述了四个中美移民家庭的生活故事且从中美不同的文化和社会角度，对家庭价值观作了很好的诠释。作为文化的重要组成部分，价值观是最有探讨意义的。家庭价值观作为价值体系的重要组成部分对家庭成员和家庭事务具有重大影响，且在不同国家具有差异。随着世界交流的日益频繁和世界经济的快速发展，越来越多的人想要寻求一位异国伴侣，跨国婚恋就变得越来越普遍。但由于不同文化间差异的影响，许许多多的跨国婚恋都以失败告终。因此，探讨来自不同国家具有不同文化背景的人如何进行有效的交流从而避免剧烈的家庭矛盾并且在相互理解的基础上实现稳定和谐的家庭生活就十分必要。

本论文试图从婚姻观、教育观和伦理观三个方面分析小说《喜福会》中中美家庭核心价值观差异以及形成这些观念差异的原因,最后发现包容对家庭的经营至关重要。尊重文化多样性，寻求共同点既是建立温暖和谐家庭也是实现国与国之间和平交流行之有效的方法。

Abstract

Amy Tan is a celebrated Chinese American writer. The publication of her first novel of The Joy Luck Club successfully helped to establish her fame in the field of Chinese American literature. The Joy Luck Club describes the lives of four Chinese American immigrant families. It makes a very fine interpretation of different family values in China and America from the perspective of diverse cultures and different social fields. As one important part of culture, values are of great significance and they are worthy of serious discussion. As an essential part of value system, family values vary from one country to another and have great influence on family members and family business. With the communication being more and more frequent and the rapid development of world economy, more and more people want to find a foreign husband or wife. Intercultural marriages have become more and more common. However, on account of the influence of cultural diversities, most intercultural marriages end with failure. So it is necessary to study how different people from countries with different traditional cultures communicate harmoniously with each other to avoid severe family conflicts and contradictions and achieve a stable and happy family life on the basis of mutual understanding. This thesis tries to analyze the differences of  core family values between China and America in The Joy Luck Club from three aspects of marriage, education, and ethics as well as an analysis of the causes for the differences. It find that inclusiveness is crucial to the run of family. Showing full respect to cultural diversities and pursuing common ground is the only effective way to build a warm and harmonious family and to make peaceful communication with other countries in the world.
