摘要

考琳·麦卡洛，澳大利亚当代著名作家，1937年6月1日生于澳大利亚新南威尔士州的惠灵顿。原先是一名品学兼优的医科学生，不甘心一辈子做医生和研究，从小喜欢写作的她开始尝试文学创作。她写过一些关于梦想、奋斗、挫折和希望的作品，其中最有代表性的是1977年出版的小说《荆棘鸟》，这既是她的处女作，也是她最成功的一部小说。整部作品以德勒海达牧场为背景，以梅吉与神父拉尔夫之间的爱情故事为主线，描述了克利里家族三代人的人生经历和情感历程。

作者描绘了克利里一家三代人的思想 、感情、价值观念的冲突与变迁, 尤其是作品中四位女性的婚姻生活,体现出女性在男权社会里提升自己的历程。本课题拟运用成长小说的基本理论，分析女主人公梅吉从一个天真无知的少女成为一名成熟独立女性的成长历程。在成长的过程中，梅吉的女性意识不断觉醒。希望本课题能为解读这部作品提供新的视角。
