Criticism on Shelley: From Matthew Arnold to T. S. Eliot and William Butler Yeats
摘要
雪莱是18世纪末英国浪漫主义的代表人物之一,对他的评论也有不同的声音。本文重点研究阿诺德,艾略特和叶芝对雪莱的批评。第一部分介绍雪莱及其他人对他的批评。第二部分呈现了著名的批评家阿诺德,艾略特以及叶芝按照自己的标准对雪莱的批评。最后分析三人对雪莱批评的异同点并得出结论:由于三人所处的社会环境、阶层以及文学流派不同,他们对雪莱的批评也呈现出迥然不同。批评家必须考虑这些因素。本文分析并总结三人对雪莱批评的异同,从不同角度加深了人们对雪莱的进一步认识。

Abstract
Percy Bysshe Shelley was one of the most influential representatives of British Romanticism at the end of 18th century. Meanwhile, there were different voices to the criticism on him. This paper focuses on criticism of Arnold, Eliot and Yeats on Shelley. This paper proceeds from the following aspects. The first part of this paper introduces Shelley and people’s criticism on him. The second part probes into the criticisms of famous critics Arnold, Eliot and Yeats on British romantic poet Shelley in terms of their own standards. The last part analyzes their similarities and differences about criticism on Shelley and concludes that their criticism on Shelley is different because of the differences of social environments, classes and literary schools. Critics must consider these factors. This paper analyzes and concludes their similarities and differences about criticism on Shelley and deepens further understanding of Shelley from various angles.
