Analysis and Strategies on Difficulties of English Listening

摘要

如我们所知，英语包括四要素：听说读写。由此看出，听位列第一。但是，由于中国应试教育的部分影响，不管是老师还是学生对听力都不够重视，更别说是对英语听力更进一步的研究与评估。幸运的是，因为教育体系的不断改革，尤其是英语的教学评估体系。2004年，教育部正式颁布了《大学英语课程改革》。为了更好的实施该条例，听力的重要性逐步走入公共视野。除此之外， 通过日常经验，我们可以感觉到，听说技能的运用比读写技能来得更加频繁。更进一步地说，作为英语学习者，听是极其关键的因为它提供语言输入。但是过多的困难与误解存在于听力实践中，这会误导我们的听力教学。不管在探索的道路上有多难，我们都应该投身于英语听力研究中。教师与学生都应该向国内外的先进经验学习并进行自我反思与评估。基于这种背景，该论文试图分析英语听力教学中的困难与障碍，并且不予余力地寻求出针对各种问题的策略与方法。

Abstract

As we all know, English consists of at least four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing, from which we can see that the listening skill ranks the first. However, on account of the effect of Chinese exam-oriented education, neither the teachers nor the students both pay little attention to the English listening, not to mention the deep research on the process or the evaluation of English listening. Fortunately, with the continuous reform of the educational system, including the English teaching and the examination system, the Chinese ministry of education formally promulgated College English Curriculum Requirements in 2004. In order to implement the requirements in practice, the importance of listening was brought into the public gradually. Apart from this, from the experience of our daily life, listening and speaking skills in English are more frequently used than reading and writing skills. Furthermore, as for English learners, listening is so crucial for language input. However, many difficulties and misunderstandings are still existing in the practice of the English listening which misleads the English listening pedagogy. No matter how hard the exploration is, the research of the English listening ought to be explored. Both teachers and students should do self-reflection and self-assessment and learn from advanced experiences at home and abroad. Under such background, this paper tries to analyze the difficulties and obstacles in English listening and make efforts to figure out strategies and methods aiming at various problems.
