摘要

弗兰克·安德伍德玩弄人心，阴险狡诈，不择手段，疯狂甚至邪恶。但他也有着独特的迷人之处。他依靠自己多年积累的经验，打垮竞争对手成为副总统，又陷害总统，使其被弹劾。在成为总统后依然爱好玩弄手段。但他的独断专行以及实用主义也给效率低下的美国政坛带来了刺激。他和妻子不仅是法律上的配偶，事业上的搭档，更是灵魂上的伴侣。他们之间的关系表面上是模范夫妻，私下却又暗潮涌动。弗兰克让人害怕，但他和一些人也有着深深的感情。

此虚构作品中的主人公多是正义的化身，在传统作品中，弗兰克毫无疑问会成为反派角色，但纸牌屋独特的角度让我们看到了“坏人”不为人知的一面。本文将介绍他的总统之路、他的婚姻和性取向，挖掘他的性格特点，了解美国政坛运作方式并探析这位主人公的创作灵感来源.

Abstract

Frank Underwood is cunning, Machiavellian, psychopathic, and even evil, but he still has a unique appeal to the audience. Beating his competitors on the experience he had accumulated over the years, Frank Underwood became vice president. Afterwards he framed the president and made him impeached. His way to presidency is smart but dangerous. As the president, he still plays with others in his hands. However, his autocracy and pragmatism change the government’s inefficiency. He and Claire are not just spouses in legal terms, but also partners in the career and in the soul. Despite being presented as model of husband and wife, their relationship is more than what’s on the surface. Frank is not easy-going and sometimes cold-blooded but he still bonds a strong connection with some people.

The protagonist in the fiction is the embodiment of justice. In traditional sense, Frank is undoubtedly a villain, but from the unique angle of House of Cards, the audience get to know him more comprehensively and discover his inner world more clearly. This paper will illustrate Frank Underwood’s  way to the Oval Office，his marriage and sexuality, dive into his characters, tap the political system of USA, and explore the inspiration for creation of him.
