The Effect of Multi-Perspective Narration and Image Description in The Bluest Eye

摘要

《最蓝的眼睛》是美国黑人女作家托尼·莫里森的代表作品。她把关注点落到最弱的群体—黑人妇女和儿童。《最蓝的眼睛》讲述的是一位叫做佩科拉的黑人小女孩，她一直渴望一双蓝色的眼睛并因此发疯。本论文将就叙述角度和意象描写来分析托尼·莫里森的写作技巧。论文主要分成五部分。第一部分是对小说的介绍。第二部分陈述了小说的历史背景。第三部分将论述莫里森在叙述故事和刻画人物时采用的多人称叙述。第四部分论证了意象描写在烘托人物佩科拉的悲剧氛围以及表达小说主题上的艺术效果。最后部分就是对本论文内容和小说主题的概括。

Abstract

The Bluest Eye is the representative work of American black female writer Toni Morrison. She focuses on the most weak group of her race -- the black women and children. The Bluest Eye is about a little black girl, named Pecola who longs for a pair of blue eyes and finally becomes insane. This paper will make analyses of Toni Morrison’s writing skills in terms of multi-perspective narration and the image description. The paper consists of five parts. The first part is an introduction to the paper. The second part states the historical background of the novel. The third part observes the multi-perspective narrating style which Toni Morrison adopts to tell the story and the characters. The fourth part illustrates the roles of images in playing up the desirable tragic atmosphere for Pecola and expressing the theme of the story. The last part is the conclusion of the paper.
