摘要

本文从文本细读的角度来分析《第五个孩子》中班悲惨命运的成因。国内外学者们专注于研究这部作品所体现的女性主义和使用的叙述手法上，鲜有人关注主人公班的不幸遭遇和探索其悲惨命运的成因，因此本文探索造成班的悲惨命运背后的原因。本文分为4个章节：第一个章节简要地介绍了多丽丝•莱辛和她的作品,以及这本书的主要人物及这篇论文的研究意义。第二部分是文献综述。第三部分则是分析班和身边人的关系。最后一部分总结了班的悲惨命运以及给人的启发。本文希望借助班的悲惨命运成因的分析引起人们对于儿童身心健康的重视。

Abstract

The thesis analyzes the reasons of miserable fate of Ben in The Fifth Child from the perspective of close reading. The thesis is composed of four chapters. Chapter one simply introduces Doris Lessing and her works. Then, it tells main characters of the book and the study significance. Chapter two presents the study at home and abroad on The Fifth Child. Chapter three mainly analyzes Ben’s relationship with the others which is the reason that he goes into the wrong way. Chapter four concludes Ben’s sufferings and appeals others to pay more attention to those children who suffer from unfair treatment. 

Through the analysis of Ben’s unfortunate fate, people will get a better understanding of factors a child needs in his growth process and how to treat the outcast of our society in a correct way in an ordinary life.
