摘要 

在评论界，欧内斯特·盖恩斯是一位已经被广泛承认的重要黑人作家，《简·皮特曼小姐的自传》是其代表作品。盖恩斯按照历史时期顺序，在小说中围绕黑人主人公着力描写了那段缺失的百年历史，真实人物和虚构角色的交替出现，他们身上呈现出了纷繁复杂的象征、暗示、断裂、继承、对立与统一关系；以一反传统的温和叙述法表达沉重阴郁甚至充满暴力的种族主题，以主人公“参与但是抽离”的亲历与旁观复合视角还原盖恩斯认知中的历史原貌。通过个性化的历史书写，盖恩斯的目的并不限于改写过去，而更是在于立足当下和着眼未来。
