摘要

手势语是指语言或非语言交际中具有交际意义的手势动作。可以用来表达说话人的意图和思想感情，它的交际作用是不可忽视的。在跨文化交际中人们往往只注重语言交际而忽视了非言语方面的交际。而手势语是一种重要的非言语交际形式，若交际双方忽视其差异，就会产生误解，从而降低交际效果。为了避免这些后果，本文从跨文化交际目的出发，比较中美手势语的异同以及背后的原因,论述了手势语在非言语交际中的重要地位，从而帮助人们来更好得理解和运用它,以达到理想的交际效果。
