摘要

文化负载词指某种文化中特有的词、词组和习语，富含地域特色和历史韵味，在翻译过程中难以在目的语中找到对应的词汇。《湘西散记》作为沈从文所著乡土文学代表作品，蕴涵了大量文化负载词。本文基于归化和异化视角，在前人研究基础上，参照学者奈达对文化因素的分类方式，运用数据归纳和分析方法，对杨宪益、戴乃迭所译《湘西散记》中生态类、物质类、社会类、宗教类、语言类文化负载词的英译进行研究。研究表明其文化负载词的英译以异化策略为主，归化策略为辅；其次，不同文化负载词所采用的翻译方法和文化负载词的种类没有明显的对应关系；最后，归化和异化策略的选择和译者的翻译动机、目的语中对应词汇的存在与否、词语含义对理解原文的影响有关。
