摘要

阿瑟·米勒是美国最杰出的戏剧大师之一，被誉为“美国戏剧的良心”，而《萨勒姆的女巫》是米勒的代表作，该作品一经问世便引起了轰动。本论文将从女性主义角度出发，分析《萨勒姆的女巫》中描述的猎巫事件。

本文将从女性主义角度出发，具体利用性别角色和内部殖民理论，分析女性在男权文化下的生活、精神状态及在社会中扮演的角色，具体分析男权中心文化对女性产生的影响，并探讨这些影响在推进萨勒姆猎巫事件时起的作用。论文认为，当时的女性深受男权文化的影响，行动与思考受到压制与制约，她们认同这一文化并沦为男性的工具，并最终成为了父权社会的受害人。本研究旨在对《萨勒姆的女巫》进行新角度的解读与分析。

Abstract

Arthur Miller is known to be one of the most outstanding American dramatists in the 20th century, universally regarded as the conscience of American society. As one of Miller’s representative compositions, The Crucible has drawn public attention since it came out. This thesis will study the witch-hunting event reflected in The Crucible from the perspective of feminism.

This thesis will, from the perspective of feminism, employ the concept of gender roles and “interior colonization”, discussing the living and spiritual status and the role of women they play in the society at that time , analyzing the deep influence of male-dominated culture on women and exploring how the influence aggravates the witch-hunting event in Salem. This thesis holds that women at that time are deeply affected by and identify with the male-dominated culture. In addition, they bear strict restrictions on their behaviors and minds and become the tool of men and the victims of the society eventually. This thesis aims to discuss and analyze The Crucible from a brand new perspective.
