从国俗语翻译角度看林语堂《吾国与吾民》的翻译_英语论文

摘要

林语堂是中国步入近代以来为数不多的几位在西方也享有极高知名度的中国作家与翻译家，也是“重新认识自己国家的知识分子”中的一员。他所著的《吾国与吾民》是一本十分成功的向西方介绍中国具体情况和中国文化的一部重要著作。

《吾国与吾民》涉及到了很多具有中国特色的国俗语，包括中国特有词汇和谚语。本论文将从国俗语翻译技巧这一角度入手，结合书中所出现的国俗语翻译现象，分析林语堂先生在书中所使用的中译英翻译技巧，并探讨其对于今后中译英翻译中的帮助与启发。论文认为，林语堂在《吾国与吾民》中偏好使用中国英语，该书的主语言虽然是英语，却附带了浓重的中国色彩。他注意翻译的文化交流作用，在满足读者需求的同时，始终不忘记传播中国文化的使命。他在使用规范英语为核心的前提下，用具有汉英风格的表达方式，传达了中国文化的精髓与特色，对于现代中译英翻译有着借鉴意义。

Abstract

Lin Yutang is one of the few Chinese writers and translators who have enjoyed a very high reputation in the West, and he is one of the intellectuals who re-understand their own country. His writing My Country and My People is a very successful introduction of China's specific situation and Chinese culture to the West.

My Country and My People involves a lot of Chinese folklore with Chinese characteristics, including Chinese unique vocabulary and idioms. This paper will start from the perspective of the translation of national language and the translation of the national language in the book, analyze the translation skills used by Mr. Lin Yutang in the book, and explore its help and inspiration for the future translation. The paper argues that Lin Yutang favors Chinese English in My Country and My People. Although the main language of the book is English, it contains a strong Chinese color. He pays attention to the role of cultural exchange in translation and always keeps in mind his mission to introduce Chinese culture while meeting the needs of readers. He conveys the Chinese culture with a Chinese special way of expression under the crucial usage of standard English, which is helpful to the modern CE translation.
