On Violence Aesthetics in Game of Thrones 

摘要

《权利的游戏》是由美国著名奇幻小说家乔治▪R▪R▪马丁所著《冰与火之歌》改编的电视剧，因其鲜明的暴力美学元素而饱受质疑。本文将从暴力美学理论出发，通过研究《权力的游戏》中的暴力美学因素，来探索暴力背后的原因。首先，对《权利的游戏》的背景及故事做一个简单的介绍，说明暴力在剧中已经成为了必要前提；其次，对剧中重要而有代表性的暴力因素进行分析，如决斗、野火、语言等，进而探析暴力之美；最后，结合暴力美学理论及其心理归因，分析剧中暴力背后的原因：一是为权利，二是为复仇，三是为守护家园。研究这一问题能对暴力美学的内涵有更加清晰的认识，有重要的学术意义和对赏析“暴力美学”影视的指导意义。

Abstract

Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series adapted from George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. It has been criticized for the amount of violence it depicts, and for the manner in which it depicts these themes. This paper will employ violence aesthetics theory, analyze its factors in Game of Thrones, and explore reasons of violence. At first, a brief introduction about the background and story is made, to prove that violence has become a prerequisite in the television. Secondly, the research analyzes representative violent factors in the television, such as combat, wildfire and language, to explore the beauty of violence. Last, combined with violence aesthetics theory and its psychological Attribution, the paper detects reasons behind violence in the series, power, revenge and guard their home. This reasearch helps make a clear understanding of violence aesthetics so it bears prominent academic meanings. And it has guiding significance for appreciating “violence aesthetics” films and televisions by proposing a suggestion of film classification.
