On Translation of Culture-loaded Words in The Palace of Eternal Youth from the Perspective of Intertextuality_英语论文
摘要
随着中国文化“走出去”,渴望了解中国文化的西方读者日益增加。近些年来,文化翻译得到了国内外学者的普遍重视。无论是语言层面的互文符号或是文化层面的互文意图都给翻译带来了巨大的挑战,因此译者要通过文本层面和文化层面上的互文性,尽可能完整地将原语所涵盖的文化内涵传达出来,才能够使译文传神达意,为译入语读者所接受。本文以洪昇的《长生殿》及杨宪益和戴乃迭的英译本为研究语料,从互文性的角度研究文本,分析表明,文本层面和文化层面的互文性能够帮助译者更好地应付文化负载词翻译的难题,实现跨文化交流。

Abstract
With Chinese culture going out, more and more western readers are eager to know about Chinese culture. In recent years, cultural translation has received widespread attention from scholars at home and abroad. Either intertextual symbol at the language level or intertextual intent culturally poses a huge challenge to translators. Therefore, the translators are responsible to follow the intertextuality at the text level and the cultural level to make the original language as complete as possible. As long as the cultural connotation is conveyed, the translation can reach its goal and be acceptable to the targeted readers. This thesis adopts Yang Xianyi and Gladys 's The Palace of Eternal Youth written by Hong Sheng and studies the translation from the perspective of intertextuality theory. The analysis shows that the intertextuality in the textual level and the cultural level can help translators cope with the problems of translation of culture-loaded words, so that readers can understand the original text better and achieve cross-cultural communication.
