An Analysis of the Subtitle Translation of Dunkirk from the Perspective of Skopostheorie_英语论文

摘要

如今有许多外国电影进口到中国，大多数人不懂源语言，有语言障碍，因此他们需要字幕翻译。字幕翻译已经成为一个热门的研究课题，许多学者从目的论的角度对字幕翻译进行分析。从目的论的视角来看，字幕翻译是一项有目的的行为和跨文化交际活动。向目的语接受者传达信息则是字幕翻译的主要目的。本文将从目的论的视角对电影《敦刻尔克》的字幕翻译进行探讨。本文将从目的论三原则角度即目的原则、连贯原则和忠诚原则对该影片字幕例子进行分析以及探讨译者所采用的翻译策略。该影片字幕主要采用的翻译方法是归化法、直译法、减译以及增译。

Abstract

Nowadays, there are a lot of foreign movies imported in China and most people do not understand the source language and have language barrier so that they need subtitle translation. Subtitle translation has become a hot research project and many scholars use Skopostheorie to analyze subtitle translation. Subtitle translation is a purposeful action and cross-cultural communication from the perspective of Skopostheorie. Conveying information to the target language audiences is the main purpose of subtitle translation. This thesis will discuss the subtitle translation of movie Dunkirk from the perspective of Skopostheorie. This thesis will use three rules of Skopostheorie which are skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule to analyze subtitle translation examples and discuss the translation strategies adopted by the translator. Some common translation strategies are adopted in subtitle translation of Dunkirk included domestication, literal translation, omission and addition.
