A Comparative Analysis of Two English Versions of Ru Meng Ling From Tytler's Translation Theory_英语论文

摘要

宋朝最著名词人之一李清照给后人留下了许多著名词作，而《如梦令》作为其代表作品，许多学者对其译本进行翻译研究，但尚未有人使用泰特勒的翻译理论作为理论框架。因此本文将根据泰特勒的翻译理论，核心放在泰特勒的翻译三原则，从词汇，句法和语篇层面出发，展开两个《如梦令》译本间的对比研究。本文所选取的第一个译本选自华人学者胡品清编著的《李清照》，该著作作为学术水准较高，世界影响较大的“特怀恩世界作家系列丛书出版。而另一译本源自《李清照诗词全集》，由美国著名诗人、翻译家雷克思罗斯与中国学者钟玲合译，并以“创意英译”著称，在美国李清照诗词英译文本中影响最大，流传最广(葛文峰, 2013)。在研究中我们发现对于以鲜活的意象和意境为特点的诗词研究，泰特勒的翻译理论能起到重要作用。

Abstract

Li Qingzhao, as one of the most well-known Ci poets in Song Dynasty, has left enormous famous works including the representative one called Ru Meng Ling, and many scholars have undertaken translation analysis on its translations. However, Tytler’s translation theory has not been applied yet as the theoretical framework. Thus, this thesis aims to make a comparative analysis on two English versions of Ru Meng Ling based on Tytler’s translation theory, with its core of three principles, from the perspective of lexical, syntactic and discourse levels. The first translation is chosen from Li Ch'ing-chao written by Hu Pinqing (胡品清), which was published as one of Twayne’s World Author Series with high academic standard and great influence. And the other is from Li Ch’ ing-chao: Complete Poems (1979), jointly translated by famous American poet and translator Rexroth and Chinese scholar Ling Chung, known for their “creative translation”, which is the most widespread and influential among English translations of Li’s Ci in America (葛文峰, 2013). During the course of the study, we found that Tytler’s translation theory could play an important role in translation study of poem, which features vivid poetic images and artistic conception.
