On Translation Strategies of the Comic Version of The Analects of Confucius from the Perspective of Skopos Theory_英语论文

摘要

《论语》，是儒家经典的代表，也是中国文化主流意识形态的代表，在亚洲乃至世界范围内都有一定的影响。作为文化的象征性载体，“漫画”近年来在中华文化传播的过程中发挥着重要作用。结合漫画本身的特点和优势来翻译漫画中的文本信息，是实现更好的跨文化交际的关键。为了探究翻译中国漫画作品的策略，本文以蔡志忠经典漫画《论语》的翻译作为研究对象，基于目的论分析作者意图和译文目的如何影响译者的翻译策略，以及译文的连贯性与忠实性的实现。本文通过漫画版论语与其他论语翻译版本的比较， 分析了在英译过程中处理漫画《论语》的方式，阐述了漫画这一文化载体在传播中国文化过程中的优势。这些方法也可供今后研究中国文化的传播手段参考。

Abstract

The Analects of Confucius, a representative of the Confucian classics, represents the mainstream ideology of Chinese culture, which has a certain impact all over Asia and even around the world. As a symbolic carrier of culture, “comics” plays an important role in the cultural communication of Chinese studies in recent years. Combining the characteristics and advantages of comics to translate the text information in them is the key to achieve better cross-cultural communication. In order to explore the strategies for translating Chinese comic works, with the translation of Cai Zhizhong classic comic book The Analects of Confucius as the research object, this thesis analyses how the author’s intention and the purpose of the translation affect the translator’s translation strategy, and how the coherence and faithfulness of the translation can be realized under the guidance of Skopos Theory. By comparing with other versions of translation and analyzing the way in which comic Analects is handled in the process of English translation, the thesis expounds the advantages of the comics in the process of spreading Chinese culture. And the methods also can be used for reference in the future dissemination of the culture of Chinese Studies.
