On Subtitle Translation of Coach Carter from the Perspective of Skopos Theory_英语论文

摘要

目的论认为翻译过程应该反映翻译活动的整体目的，译者可以更自由地运用翻译策略来达到目的、表达意义。目的论注重连贯原则，它要求语篇与目标语篇达到语篇内的连贯，而语篇内的连贯又要符合目标受众的文化和习惯。同时，它强调忠实性原则。忠实性原则可以通过源词和翻译字幕来反映源文和译文之间的关系。语际连贯从属于语内连贯，两者都服从于目的论原则，这说明在字幕翻译中，可接受性对忠实度的影响要大得多。由此可见，目的论在字幕翻译中的应用是合适的。

在目的论的视阈下，本研究对《卡特教练》电影字幕翻译进行分析，研究主要采用文献归纳和案例分析的方法，如何根据目的论的三个视角选择合适的字幕翻译策略是本文研究的重点。通过具体的研究分析，我们发现，翻译工作者在电影字幕翻译中应该运用目的论的三个视角进行研究，其目的是让源文与目标语言及其文化的特征相一致。本研究旨在为将来目的论视角下的字幕翻译研究提供一点启发。

Abstract

Skopos theory proposes that translation process should reflect the purpose of the translational action as a whole, in which the translators have more freedom to use the strategies to achieve their purpose and express meaning. Much attention has been given to coherence in Skopos theory, which requires to achieve intra-textual coherence with the target text, in which it should be in line with the culture and habit of target audience. Meanwhile, Skopos theory emphasizes fidelity, which can reflect the relationship between the target text and the original text with the source words and the translated subtitles. Inter-textual coherence is treated subordinate to intra-textual coherence, and both are subordinated to the Skopos rule, which shows that in subtitle translation, acceptability is much more important to fidelity. It thus can be seen that the application of the Skopos theory in subtitle translation is suitable. 

From the perspective of Skopos theory, the thesis makes the analysis of the subtitle translation of Coach Carter, with the way of literature induction and case analysis as the methodology. How to choose appropriate subtitle translation strategies according to the three perspectives of the Skopos theory is the research priority. Through the detailed analysis, it is found that it is necessary for the translator to use the three perspectives of Skopos theory, in order to make the original text consistent with the characteristics of the target language and target culture. The thesis is designed to shed a new light on subtitle translation from the perspective of Skopos theory in the future.
