On C-E Translation of Culture-loaded Words from the Perspective of Eco-translatology -A Case Study of The Three-body Problem by Ken Liu_

Abstract
With the publication of The Three-body Problem, the English version of Santi, in the United States, the book was much sought after among readers in the world. Consequently, it became the first Chinese sci-fiction to win the Hugo Award in 2015, making the author Liu Cixin become the first winner to receive that honor in Asia. What is more, he was awarded Clarke Award for Imagination in Service to Society lately. There is no denying that Santi can not be successful all over the world without Ken Liu’s efforts and contributions to The Three-body Problem. Hence, the study on Ken Liu’s English version will be of great significance for others to translate Chinese sci-fictions, especially those with Chinese culture-loaded words.
Based on Eco-translatology, the thesis investigates the meaning and embodiment of “Doing Things with Translations” and analyzes how the translator achieves adaptive transformation in linguistic, cultural and communicative dimension in the translation of culture-loaded words so as to obtain a translation with high degree of holistic adaptation and selection. It is indicated that “Doing Things with Translations” pays more attention to the translator’s motivation and objective effect of translation. Besides, the transformation of three dimensions can be realized by employing adaptive translation strategies in a flexible way according to translational eco-environment.
