An Analysis of All the light We Cannot See from the Perspective of Econarratology_英语论文

Abstract
All the Light We Cannot See is the fifth works of Anthony Doerr, an American writer, and it took him ten years to finish it. All the Light We Cannot See has been on the bestseller lists of New York Times and Amazon since its publication and won the Pulitzer Prize in 2015. All the Light We Cannot See mainly tells that during the Second World War Marie-Laure, a blind French girl, bravely battled with fascist, and that a German orphan named Pfennig worked for fascist with his talent of radio technology. When it came to the crunch, Pfennig chose to kill a German soldier and saved Marie-Laure. Based on the theory of econarratology, this thesis will investigate the correlations between the storyworld of All the Light We Cannot See and ecology from the perspective of econarratology. The thesis will analyze All the Light We Cannot See from three aspects: multiple narrative spaces reflect interactions between men and environment; different narrative points of views illustrate different characters’ attitudes towards ecology; the stone and the radio in the novel also have deeper meanings. Through the analysis of the novel, the thesis helps readers better understand the novel and learn its ecological views and in addition provides new narrative experience and models for war novels.
