An Analysis of Songs of Innocence and of Experience from the Perspective of Space Montage_

Abstract
William Blake is a pioneer of British Romanticism, whose poetry is full of images, either mysterious or obscure. Thus, the imaginable space for exploratory discussion is relatively profound. In addition, with the development of spatial art, more and more scholars began to explore the study of Blake’s poetry from it. Based on the space montage, the thesis aims to interpret Blake’s poetry Songs of Innocence and of Experience in three respects, metaphor juxtaposition, parallel juxtaposition and contrast juxtaposition. In short, space montage is varieties of imaginative pictures that hit readers’ mind because of the disordered combination and connection of images that exist in the same or different spaces. Through the analysis of the space montage embodied in Songs of Innocence and of Experience, readers will deeply recognize the imagery in the collection as well as Blake’s imaginative world, and especially, explore literary value of the poetry.
