An Analysis of English-Chinese Subtitle Translation of Three Idiots from the Perspective of Skopos Theory_英语论文
摘要
改革开放以来,中国与世界各国建立了更加密切的关系,加入世界贸易组织后,各国间的文化交流迅速增加。外国电影从不同的时代到不同的背景,已经成为娱乐的一种艺术形式。也就是说,电影是文化和社会的反映。因此,字幕翻译不仅是一种语言层面的翻译,也是一种文化层面的翻译,对全球社会的文化交流具有重要意义。目的论认为翻译是一种有目的的行为,在翻译过程中,译者要充分考虑目的语特征以及译文受众,使译文达到理想的交际效果。为此,本文以电影三傻大闹宝莱坞为例,以目的论为理论基础,通过案例分析更好地了解该电影的字幕特点和翻译局限。本文希望能和广大字幕翻译爱好者共同探讨字幕翻译。

Abstract
Since Reform and Opening up, China has established a closer relationship with the global world and cultural exchanges among countries have increased rapidly after the entrance of WTO. Foreign movies have become an art form for entertainment from different ages to different backgrounds. That is to say, movies have been a reflection of the culture and society. Therefore, subtitle translation is not only a language-level translation but also a culture-level translation, embracing great significance for cultural exchanges in the global community. In Skopos Theory,translation is considered as an action with purposes and the translators should give full consideration to the characteristics of the target language and the target audience in order to achieve an ideal communicative effect.For this reason,this paper,choosing a movie Three Idiots as an example,aims to make a better understanding of the subtitle characteristics and translation limitations of the film by providing typical cases.The author hopes to discuss with those who show great interest in subtitle translation and learn from each other.
