A Brief Analysis of Male Images in Alice Munro’s Dear Life_英语论文
摘要
加拿大作家爱丽丝·门罗被誉为“当代契诃夫”,是2013年诺贝尔文学奖的获得者,同时也是历史上第13位获得诺贝尔文学奖的女性作家。她的作品多以加拿大小镇为背景,围绕普通女性的复杂心理和日常生活展开。《亲爱的生活》是门罗自宣布封笔以来的最后一本短篇小说集,书中包含十篇短篇小说和四篇自传体小说,对研究门罗及其作品这一领域有着重要意义。
本论文以《亲爱的生活》为研究文本,从男性气概领域分析书中出现的男性形象,并且通过对男子汉气概产生的原因、表现和影响的研究,探索出社会可能存在的理想男性气概。

Abstract
Canadian writer Alice Munro is known as “Contemporary Chekhov”. She is the winner of the 2013 Nobel Prize for Literature and the 13th female writer in history to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. Most of her works focus on the complex psychology and daily life of ordinary women in small Canadian towns. Dear Life is Munro’s last collection of short stories since she declared to stop writing. It contains ten short novels and four autobiographical novels, which are of great significance to the study of Munro and his works.
This thesis takes Dear Life as the research target, and analyzes the male image in the novel from the perspective of manliness, through studying of the causes, demonstration, and effect of their manliness, so as to explore the possible ideal manliness in a society.
