Abstract

Wordsworth is the most outstanding romantic poet in Britain in the 19th century, who admires nature with abundant images in his poems. In his “Ode: Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood” (also known as “Ode”, “Immortality Ode”), the poet believes that nature combines divinity, reason and humanity and has educational significance. Thus, both images and connotation of Ode have imaginable space for exploratory discussion. Through the analysis and interpretation of different images in “Immortality Ode”, this thesis deepens readers’ understanding and cognition of the poem, and analyzes the theme and connotation of the poem from the perspective of spiritual ecology, so that people can understand the “Ode” more deeply. Today in complicated information era, the values and philosophy in “Immortality Ode” are valuable lessons for people in anxiety and loss. Therefore, we can further explore the deep topical meaning and literary value of poetry.
