An Analysis of Males’ Images in the Patriarchal Society through A Thousand Splendid Suns_英语论文

摘要

《灿烂千阳》是卡勒德·胡塞尼的第二部成功的作品。这部小说聚焦于阿富汗女性身上，讲述了两个妇女在父权制度下的不幸故事，既要承受父权文化的压迫，还要面对国家战火连篇带来的贫穷和饥饿。这是阿富汗忍耐的故事，也是阿富汗女性忍耐的故事。目前的国内外研究现状大都是围绕着两位女性而展开的，小说中出现了各具特色的男性形象，他们与两位女性主人公的命运发展有着深切的关系。本文将结合父权文化对《灿烂千阳》中的男性人物进行分析和解读，主要从父亲和丈夫这两个角色展开分析，深化读者对《灿烂千阳》中男性人物的理解与认知。

Abstract

A Thousand Splendid Suns is Khaled Hosseini’s second successful work which narrates two women’s lives, respectively Mariam and Laila in Afghanistan under the patriarchal culture. The two women are subject to the oppression of the patriarchy, together with the poverty and starvation brought about by wars. This is the story of Afghanistan’s endurance as well as of individual’s endurance. In this novel, the author expresses his sympathy and concern for Afghan women and Afghanistan. Since its publication, it has attracted many scholars both from abroad and home, who carry out research mostly around the two women. There are several males in the novel, and they have an affinity to the fate of two protagonists. The present thesis will combine patriarchy to analyze and interpret four males in A Thousand Splendid Suns, to help readers have a deeper understanding of male characters in the novel.
