摘要

《蝴蝶君》是美国著名华裔戏剧家黄哲伦的作品，于1988年登上百老汇的舞台，影响遍及全球。大多数对于《蝴蝶君》的研究集中在东方主义的建构和解构、自我认知、跨文化以及东西方权力关系上。鲜少有学者研究主人公的心理活动。本文通过仔细研读《蝴蝶君》及运用跨学科研究的方法，分析主人公在东方主义的影响下的心理活动。

首先，本文分析伽利玛的自恋情结，探讨东西方关系以及刻板印象是如何使伽利玛建构了“他者”的形象，产生自恋情结。随后通过对比文中宋丽玲贬低东方以及赞扬西方的话语,分析宋丽玲在东方主义的环境下的自卑情结。本文通过揭露两位主人公在东方主义影响下的心理活动，呼吁和平对话，主张全人类的和平共存。
