On the View of Marriage and Love in Sense and Sensibility from the Perspective of Feminism_英语论文

摘要

英国女作家简·奥斯汀一生仅有6部作品，每部作品都以乡村青年男女的婚姻爱情为题材。对于婚姻和爱情，作者有自己独特的见解，并形成了自己的婚姻爱情观。《理智与情感》是简·奥斯汀的第一部长篇小说。该著作讲述了生长在英国乡间的两姐妹埃莉诺和玛丽安娜的情感故事。两姐妹感情深厚，容貌美好，但性格却大不相同。姐姐理性、勇敢 ，一直用理智压抑自己的情感;妹妹浪漫、激烈，对于感情甚至有点过于澎湃。面对爱情时，姐妹两的反应是大不相同的。而最终，姐妹两都在理智的情况下，获得了自己的终生幸福。作者透过描写姐妹两的爱恨情仇，折射出当时英国社会盛行的婚姻爱情观——那个时代的女性的人生目标就是嫁给一个有钱的男人，深刻刻画了当时女性对于爱情的不同反应。本文通过对埃莉诺与玛丽安娜的性格特点进行分析，提炼出作者的婚姻爱情观：婚姻建立在爱情之上才会有幸福，而幸福的婚姻应该是由爱情、道德和经济实力所结合的。

Abstract

Jane Austen, a British writer, only had six works in her life and each work revolved around the marriage and love stories of young men and young women in the countryside. For love and marriage, Jane Austen formed her own view that  money played an important role in marriage and women should also be sensible in  love. 

Sense and Sensibility is the first novel of Jane Austen, which told us a love story about Elinor and Marianne sisters who grew up in the countryside. They were both beautiful and are on good terms with each other. However, they had different personalities. Elinor was brave and rational while Marianne was romantic and impulsive. When they faced love, they reacted differently. They had different ways to deal with their emotional life. In the end, they got their lifelong happiness in a rational situation. Through the description of  love and hate of the two sisters, this work reflected the prevailing view on love and marriage in Britain at that time. The life goal of women in that era was to marry a rich man. What’s more, it depicted the different reactions of women when they fell in love. By analyzing the personalities of Elinor and Marianne and understanding the writing purpose of Jane Austen, we can conclude the view of the writer: happy marriage is based on love and combined with morality and economic strength.
