A Spatial Narrative Analysis of Ian McEwan’s Last Day of Summer From the Perspective of Freud's Psychoanalysis_英语论文

摘要

麦克尤恩是当代英国文坛享有盛誉的作家之一。他冷静、敏锐又兼具感性的叙事风格得到了当代文学批评家和读者的一致赞誉并为他赢得了包括曼布克奖在内的众多文学奖项。在麦克尤恩不同的写作阶段中，他的作品始终如一展现出独特的空间叙事风格与特征，即小说中具有明显表征性的地理景观、心理空间以及社会空间变化。对麦克尤恩作品中的空间叙事这一重要叙事手法的解读与分析，有利于对其作品的艺术美感以及深刻主题进行探究与剖析。本篇论文选取麦克尤恩早期小说集《最初的爱情，最后的仪式》中的一篇短篇小说《夏日里的最后一天》为例，运用奥地利心理学家西格蒙德·弗洛伊德的精神分析法，对小说中的空间意象群进行分析。通过对主人公生活中不同叙事空间的切换、衔接与变化进行剖析，旨在揭示出麦克尤恩作品中主人公内在精神空间的变化过程，深化儿童成长这一题材主题，在多角度空间视角模式下，突显出空间叙事手法的独特魅力以及麦克尤恩的创作诉求。

Abstract

Ian Mc Ewan is a prestigious British writer in contemporary era. His calm, accurate and sensuous style of narration receives both popular and critical appreciation and earns him almost all important prizes including the Man Booker Prize. In his different writing periods, his works show consistent characteristics of spatial narrative, namely, the representative of social space, psychological space and geographical landscape, which has become a vital instrument to dissect the theme and aesthetic of his novels. The paper attempts, through Freud's Psychoanalysis, to give a subjective analysis to the ensembles of spatial narratives embodied in Ian McEwan’s Last Day of Summer, a story in his first short story collection: First Love, Last Rites. Through the thread of spatial images in the protagonist’s daily life, Ian McEwan means to bring out the protagonist’s change of attitude towards the outside world, emphasize the theme of growth in Last Day of Summer, highlighting the charm of space narrative and the appeal in his creative writing.
